This type of decoration, which highlights the beauty of the gingerbread (perníčky) itself, is best used on shapes intended primarily for decorative purposes. This is not only because I use jute (in the form of string or ribbons) as a decorative material, but also whole spices with distinctive shapes, especially star anise, cloves, allspice, or anise, which can also beautifully scent the space.
An advantage of this technique is that even those of you who are just beginning with decoration can try it.
The main task of rustic decoration is to emphasize and highlight the shape and line of the gingerbread (perníčky) itself.
If you use finer jute material, it also looks beautiful on smaller motifs, especially Christmas ones.
If you choose suitable shapes of gingerbread (perníčky), e.g., different sized stars, around which a jute ribbon can be easily wrapped, you have a finished base, which you'll just discreetly highlight with icing. You can manage with just dots or drops.
Inspiration

The important thing is that you always use jute first, then decorate with icing, and add spices, which you also fix to the gingerbread (perníčky) surface with icing.
On larger shapes, you can sensitively apply white areas, which you immediately sprinkle with smaller spices, such as anise or fennel, after flooding with icing.
Rustic decoration can add a special touch even to more complex assembled or folded motifs, but always keep in mind that its main task is to emphasize and highlight. The color, shape, and line of the gingerbread (perníčky) itself should remain dominant. Therefore, here more than anywhere else, less can be more.

With rustic decoration, it's especially necessary to realize that less is more. So don't try to fill every piece of the gingerbread (perníčky) surface with decoration. Simple dots or drops in combination with other material will make your gingerbread (perníčky) into beautiful creations that everyone will marvel at.
