Preparing the Gingerbread House Before Decorating

Before you start decorating, it's important to carefully prepare the individual parts of the gingerbread house. First, test how they fit together. The ideal method is to place the pieces two by two on top of each other and use a sharp knife or a fine grater to even out the bottom and side edges. You can adjust the roof pieces in the same way if you want to achieve a perfectly sharp roof ridge.

The more careful you are during preparation, the easier the final assembly of the gingerbread house will be.

When adjusting the pieces, strive for the greatest possible precision.
But still, remember - we're building with gingerbread, so small inaccuracies can occur. You can easily hide them when assembling the house by using a chain-stitch line, which is perfect for covering these imperfections.

Tip for you

For glazing, use a soft brush with long bristles and make sure the layer of the mixture is very thin so the gingerbread pieces don't "swim" in it. A very light touch is all it takes.
