Filigree decoration is by its character predestined for gingerbread miniatures, but with sensitive use, it can also excellently add a special touch to larger gingerbread shapes, which it will lighten and refine, or possibly highlight their interesting shape details.
It's important that the surface is covered with the pattern evenly and the whole appears balanced and calm.
The magic of this decoration, inspired by the fragile beauty of jewelry by old master goldsmiths, lies in shaping a thin line of icing, which we twist into graceful spirals, ingeniously intertwined loops, or S-shapes. The ornaments are complemented by miniature dots and leaves.
Decorate freely by hand
As you may know, I'm a big advocate of freehand decoration, which means creating patterns directly, without any pre-drawing or even templates. I recommend the same approach to you. You'll see how much it opens space for your creative imagination.
As with any technique, there are many possibilities here for where to use this decoration. If we cover the entire surface of small "perníčky" with filigree, they will really evoke the impression of jewelry.

Tip for you
We also achieve beautiful effects by placing delicate motifs as inserts into a pure white surface or by creating a bordering lace from them. The contrast of the smooth white surface and airy pattern is extraordinarily elegant, and its nobility stands out especially on "perníčky" intended for festive occasions. In these cases, we can further emphasize their exceptionality with delicate gilding of the pattern.
