Now we will lay the roof, and here, more than ever, it is essential to work with completely dry decoration. Only place the roof after the decoration has completely dried on an equally well-dried gingerbread house base.
When placing the roof, we'll again use pins or toothpicks to help. For a smaller house, it's enough to secure just the roof ridge, while for a larger one, first pin one half of the roof to the gables.
This is where the chain-stitch technique you learned in the basic decorating elements will come in handy. You can beautifully fill the roof ridge and the joints between the gables with it. This not only strengthens the gingerbread house but also creates a beautiful decorating effect.

Tip for you
You can also glue a row of small gingerbread pieces, such as circles or hearts, along the roof ridge. Your gingerbread house will gain a much richer and more original look.
